Wrapping up the summer show season in style was our Southdown shearling ewe when she took the female championship and the reserve overall championship at the 125th anniversary National Southdown Show, Goodwood.

This gimmer which has already been breed champion at both Royal Bath and West and Royal Three Counties as well as reserve interbreed at Royal Bath and West, is by Sarkozy and out of a daughter of the The Frog.

Female class judge and Charolais breeder Charles Sercombe said she was a standout from the moment he saw her. “She oozed class and breed character, combining great feminity with super fleshing.”

Other prize winners included our ram lamb taking first place in the class for lambs born from 1st January to 29th February, with this lamb then being named reserve overall champion ram lamb from the three ram lamb class winners.

Our March born ram lambs then took second and sixth in the class for lambs born after 1st March, while our aged ewes stood third and fourth in their class.

In the ewe lambs our February-born lambs were second and third in the class for lambs born before 29th February.

With just shy of 200 entries for the 125th Anniversary National Show to have achieved such exceptional results was a memorable day for the flock.
