The first show of the season, North Somerset, was a great opener for both teams, with Southdowns and Blue Texels doing well in some strong competition.
Topping the pile was Southdown aged ewe Chaileybrook 22/01377, picking up the AOB native championship, the native interbreed championship and the reserve overall interbreed championship. She’s a Beaujolais daughter out of the famous 15/0010 ewe and was on top form for being three weeks out of her wool and weaned at 5.30 on show morning.
Adding to the success in the Southdowns was a class win for shearling ram Chaileybrook His Nibs, jointly owned with Scarlet Hale along with a win for Sophie’s ram lamb Littlebrook Gangster Rap a Chaileybrook The Stag son, with second in the same class going to Chaileybrook 25/0268, a Calley Castle Firestarter son.
Gimmer Chaileybrook 24/02118, another by The Stag stood third, while ewe lamb Chaileybrook 25/02563, a Firestarter daughter was second. The Chaileybrook gimmer, ram lamb and ewe lamb were first in the group of three.
Across in the Blue Texels Sophie had a super start to the season, taking first in the ram lambs with Littlebrook King Kong, a son of Boyo Jimmy A and first with ewe Littlebrook Kim K, a daughter of Sams Frazier.
Aged ewe Littlebrook Gizzy, a Beaconsview Flash Harry daughter was also first, while gimmers Littlebrook Jazzy and Joy were third and fifth, respectively.
