It was another successful trip out for the show team at last week’s Royal Bath and West Show, with great results among some strong competition. Heading up the team’s success was Southdown senior ram Chaileybrook Diablo when he won his class, took the male championship and went on to be overall breed champion.
Sired by the homebred Chaileybrook Zidane and out of a dam by the homebred Chaileybrook 17/0032, he is from the same female family as Beaujolais. Originally sold to the Halcrow family’s Calley Castle flock as a lamb, we were delighted to be able to bring him back into our flock last autumn.

Also faring well in the Southdowns was Sophie’s ram lamb Littlebrook Gangster Rap, a son of Chaileybrook The Stag, out of a Chaileybrook Beaujolais daughter, with this one also winning his class. His flock mate, ewe lamb Littlebrook 25/02494, also won her class and picked up the reserve female championship.
Meanwhile, ram lamb Chaileybrook 25/02563 stood second to Gangster Rap, with ewe lamb Chaileybrook 25/02564 standing third and gimmer Chaileybrook 24/02118 also taking second. Shearling ram Chaileybrook His Nibs also collected a second prize, with the two Chaileybrook lambs standing second in the pairs class and then joined by the gimmer to take second in the group of three. The flocks also collected third in a hotly contested Native Shortwool section of the show’s unique Team of Six competition.
Across in the Blue Texels, the team had another great show, taking the reserve female championship with ewe lamb Littlebrook Kim K, with this one having stood first in her class. Sired by Sam’s Fraizer daughter.

Gimmer Littlebrook Joy, a Severn View G I Joe daughter was second in her class to the eventual breed champion, with Littlebrook Jazzy, another by G I Joe being fourth in the same class. Ram lamb Littlebrook Kicking King, a Boyo Jimmy A son out of Littlebrook Golden Girl was third, with ewe lamb Littlebrook KoKo standing fourth.
