The Chaileybrook and Littlebrook flocks’ first visit to Tenbury Show proved to be a highly successful one, with our Southdown gimmer, Chaileybrook 16/00018 picking up both the breed championship and reserve interbreed championship.

In the breed classes judge Gareth Lloyd-Hughes placed this gimmer first in a strong class of shearling and older ewes, describing her as an outstanding ewes. Then in the interbreed championship judge Josh Briggs said the gimmer was exceptionally correct and hard to fault.

Other prizes in the Southdowns included second prize tickets with both the ram lamb, Chaileybrook 17/00010, a son of French sire TC1500020, and the ewe lamb, Chaileybrook 17/00015, a Tadpole daughter out of our Golden Valley ewe.

Meanwhile, Sophie’s Blue Texels also fared well, taking the reserve championship in the Any Other Continental Breed classes with Littlebrook Alfie, a shearling ram by Shearstone Xanthe and out of a Miserden ewe.

Sophie herself then worked hard to earn second place in a strong class of young handlers aged under seven.
