Chaileybrook rams were in high demand at the Southdown Sheep Society Premier Sale, Worcester, taking the top three prices in the male section.
Topping the trade at 780gns was Chaileybrook 16/00033, a son of TC10187 ‘Sarkozy’ bred by ET from a Golden Valley ewe purchased at Daniel Bunting’s dispersal. This tup had stood second at the 125th Anniversary National Show as a ram lamb and was fourth in the pre-sale show at Worcester. He sold to Richard Windsor, Malpas, Cheshire.
Then at 750gns was the male and reserve overall champion from the pre-sale show, Guardian 16/0047. Sired by Brant 12/00124, himself a son of the noted Chaileybrook 09/0002, this shearling tup is out of Chaileybrook 13/00022, a ‘Sarkozy’ daughter and full sister to the breed record priced ewe lamb. He was knocked down to Ken Smith, Goole, East Yorkshire.
And making 500gns was Chaileybrook 16/00037, a son of the homebred Tadpole out of another dam by ‘Sarkozy’. Carrying a wealth of breeding across his pedigree this tup was bought by Helen and Simon Lakin, Wrexham.
In the ram lambs prices hit a high of 320gns for Chaileybrook 17/00012, a son of the recently imported TC50119 out of a ‘Sarkozy’ daughter. He was fourth in the pre-sale show and sold to Goodwood Estate, Sussex.
Following closely at 310gns was Guardian 17/00067. This lamb is out of Chaileybrook 12/00025 and is by Brompton 15/03289, the reserve male champion at the 125th Anniversary National Show. He was the pick of Chloe West, Stoke Gifford.
And finally at 250gns was Guardian 17/00068, another son of Brompton 15/03289 and this time out of the Chaileybrook 13/00022, making him maternal brother to the male and reserve overall champion. This one sold to the Dickens family, Horwood.
We’d like to thank all buyers and bidders for their support of our consignment at the sale and wish them all good luck with their purchases.
