Saturday’s Hanbury Show was a great day, with our Southdown gimmer, Chaileybrook 18/00308 taking the breed championship and going on to be reserve interbreed champion.

This gimmer, which is unbeaten this summer, is by Percheron and out of our great flock ewe Chaileybrook 15/0010, herself breed champion at Royal Three Counties last month.

Also picking up red tickets were our shearling ram, Chaileybrook 18/00297, a full brother to the winning gimmer, and our ewe lamb Chaileybrook 19/00557, an Ibanez daughter out of a ewe by Sarkozy.

Sophie’s shearling ewe by Percheron and out of a Sarkozy daughter was third in the same class as the breed champion.

The Blue Texel team also fared well in some strong mixed breed classes, with stock ram Brucie Bonus taking second spot to the eventual section champion, while Littlebrook Cherrybubble, our shearling ewe by Brucie was third in a class of 15, and ram lamb Littlebrook Dundee and ewe lamb Littlebrook Doodle, were both fourth in their classes.

Capping off a successful day Sophie was first in the young handlers class for handlers up to 12 years old.
