Hanbury Show saw the Southdown show team enjoy an outstanding day in the judging rings, winning every class and taking both the breed championship and reserve breed championship too.

Topping the table was senior stock ram Chaileybrook Beaujolais on his last show outing, winning both the aged ram class and the breed championship.

 

It was then the turn of Sophie’s Littlebrook flock to take the reserve breed championship with her shearling ewe Littlebrook 22/01334. This Dartagnan daughter is out of a Tadpole daughter and won a highly competitive shearling ewe class on the day.

In the shearling rams Chaileybrook 22/01372 took the top ticket, following on from his success at both Royal Bath and West and Royal Three Counties. He’s a son of The Stag out of an imported French dam.

Ram lamb honours fell to Sophie once again with Littlebrook Eddie The Eagle winning the class. He’s another by Dartagnan and is out of a Beaujolais daughter and was second at the National Show, having been first at Royal Bath and West and Royal Three Counties.

Second spot in the ram lambs was taken by Chaileybrook 23/01753. Sired by Ibanez, this lamb had previously been first at the National Show and second at Royal Bath and West and Royal Three Counties.

Chaileybrook 22/01377 was a close second in the shearling ewes, with this Beaujolais daughter being out of the exceptional Chaileybrook 15/0010.

This year’s star ewe lamb Chaileybrook 23/01772 then took her fourth first place of the season, completing an unbeaten run which has included being reserve interbreed pair of ewe lambs at Lincolnshire Show and first prizes at Royal Bath and West, Royal Three Counties and the National Show.

Wrapping up the Southdown action, Beaujolais, Chaileybrook 22/01377 and Chaileybrook 23/01772 winning the group of three class.

In the Blue Texels Severn View G I Joe enjoyed further success, taking first place in the shearling ram class, with Littlebrook Hoodie picking up second in the ram lamb class.

Putting the icing on the cake of a tremendous day Sophie both won the 12-16 year old Young Handlers Class and took the overall Young Handlers championship.
